Anne's Medical Mission to Nepal

Shalom!

Here's some info on my upcoming Medical Mission to Nepal...

My first mission trip to Haiti in 1984
In 1980 God called me to minister to Leprosy sufferers in Nepal.  For the past  30 years I have carried this in my heart.  Now is the time to go!   February 1-23, 2012 I will be in Nepal serving as a nurse with the Nepal Leprosy Trust.  I’ll be using my 28 years of nursing  experience to  minister help, hope and healing in the area of Lalgadh which has more new cases annually than in any other place in the world.

Let me share some information about Leprosy with you.

Leprosy, the disease...
Leprosy, (known as Hansen’s Disease in the  West) is caused by Leprae-Mycobacterium, a bacteria which eats away nerve endings in cooler parts of the body like hands, feet and faces.  Pain alerts a healthy person to bodily damage but those with Leprosy have no such warning. Because of nerve
destruction they do not feel pain.  They keep walking on their ulcerated feet and using their ulcerated hands resulting in massive infection, paralysis and bone reabsorption.

In addition to facial deformities and blindness, the victims are left with stumps where hands and feet should be.

 This man has

an early case and still has

  his nose, ears and sight

Hinduism and Leprosy...
Hindu belief in reincarnation holds no forgiveness…only judgment. Leprosy is considered a curse from the previous life’s sins.  Men, women, boys and girls are trapped by this horrific disease which renders them blind, paralyzed, disfigured and poverty stricken.  With no societal impetus to care for these in the “living death” the victims live untouched, unloved and alone.

The Living Death…
Nepali’s expect hardship, illness and suffering in life.  What they do not expect or have  strategies to cope with is the individual life apart from the family, the village, and the tribe.  When someone is diagnosed with
Leprosy they are forever isolated from husband, wife, mother, father, brothers, sisters, extended family, friends...all relationships are snatched away the instant the word is pronouncedThis isolation, to the Nepali, is more devastating than poverty, illness, loss and death. In fact Leprosy is called “the living death.”

Light and Blessing to the Nations...
Yeshua, Jesus, hung out with “untouchables” whom no one else found worthy. Yet He was deemed
cursed, stricken...so disfigured that we could not even look at Him.  He died isolated and rejected, utterly alone. His sacrifice and resurrection brought the promise of eternal life with the God of love, who will bind up our wounds and who will never cast us away.  Our past is forgiven, the old has become new.  We are new creatures  in Him!

    My beautiful family 2011
As a Jewish Believer in Yeshua I’m called to go to these ones to bind up their wounds and literally wash their feet and tell them the Good News.  I will be doing it in the name of Yeshua, Jesus

Will you partner with me in this mission of mercy?
Will you help me serve in spreading the Great News of the one true God?
Those who suffer from Leprosy in Nepal will never hear unless they are sought out.

The loving God who created them
desires to give them a future and a hope.
